Bache Commodities

The client’s brief was far from simple; to “create a space which looks like a Ferrari but functions as commercial commodities business”. The space consisted of 2,800 m² on two floors in Devonshire Square, formed from a former warehouse. The scope included a dealing room with 100 stations, a new interconnecting stair, a computer system for two hours over-run, and state of the art audio/visual capabilities throughout. The challenges, besides a phased programme and restricted budget, were to create a contemporary space in a very tired building, maximise the occupancy with the restricted building systems available and to increase the floor to ceiling height.
